I signed up to your site about two week ago...I graduated in 2001 from UF and have been working very part time since then in order to get my hours for licensure in that time I had three children and am a very busy mom. I passed the test! Thanks for all the wonderful tips. I was the only one to use the entire time allotment to take the exam, the only one with item markers , and the only one who brought a water bottle and simple snacks (chocolate and a banana). Obviously the others did not use your website. I was so glad I had my earplugs in so I was not as distracted by others moving around the room. Another tip that helped was to read the question outloud (softly) to myself. I did that with many of the questions that confused me. I warned the others sitting around me that I may do that and ended up moving to a more isolated spot when one woman kind of freaked out. Anyway, thanks for the help. Carol

Dear Dr. Hutchinson, Just wanted to let you know that I passed the exam first time with flying colors. Passing score = 100. Perfect score = 160. Mean scores = 115. My score = 121. I trully believe that what helped me was�your practice exam format. Getting myself into the mind set of how the questions were going to be asked and then also having a time clock to�increase my processing speed was key. Also helpful was the information on groups and career counseling. I have a master's in clinical psych and the career portion was minimized in my program.�Your site provided what I needed to know to pass the exam. I did everything that you suggested about exam prep the night before and the day of the exam. I took frequent breaks during the exam when my concentration seemed to be waning, stayed until the very end of the exam time, and then slept for the rest of the day when I got home. Thank you so much for providing and maintaining this site. When I came upon your site, I used the definitions and exam questions that were available for free for about 2 months prior to the exam. Due to my financial situation, I was only going to be able to purchase one week of the site. It was wonderful to have excess to information before I purchased. I have been waiting for six weeks to write this so here it goes: � I PASSED!!!! the first time out, I just received my exam results and I am ecstatic. My scores were VERY acceptable�even in the areas I was sure I did not do well in,�I scored pretty respectable. Total was 140 out of the 160. � Here's what I did, I ran thru your questions, then I reviewed the areas that I knew I was weak in and retested frequently.� I augmented my study materials to previous text books ( not heavily) and then used the Rosenthal study guide.� I limited the amount of time to study by setting a daily amount ( with the questions on the computer it was easy to take and a good use of my "free" time.) I had about 2 months to start getting ready. �

Dear Dr. Hutchinson, Just a short note to thank you for the valuable study site available to assist with the preparation for the NCE. I had been out of school for 16 years when I began the process of preparing for the exam. It was the extensive information, divided in to the various domains from your site that helped me organize myself. I specifically liked the opportunity to access the information and sample tests from any computer. It was reinforcing to progress from 40% accuracy on a given domain to an eventual 80% correct. Upon finishing the NCE, I felt very deflated. I didn't think I would receive a passing score. However, I returned to your site the day after the exam and read the results of other students which served to resurrect my sense of optimism. I am happy to report that when my results arrived, I was pleasantly satisfied to learn that I had scored a 124. The score needed to pass was 97. I had achieved above the mean in all domains but one. It is also important for me to comment about all the email that were sent from you that offered encouragement. Just when I thought I could study no more, I would read an email that provided me renewed motivation. I am a Federal Civil Service worker and I just wanted to tell you all that I took my NCE in April 02 and passed with a score of 127 and my NCMHCE in October 02 with a IG score of 126 out of 152 (83%) and a DM score of 144 out of 180 (80%). I was so sure that I would fail - so sure that I decided to take each exam separately instead of together even though in the state of Illinois I only need a 65% to pass these exams. I would recommend this website to anyone applying for licensure. I don't think I could have passed without it, especially because I did not have a lot of the clinical coursework back when I graduated in 1989. Dr. Linton, Did I tell you I got 121 on the test? A respectable score for the NCE exam when only 97 was needed. I had a 3 year old, outdated study guide from Advanced Education, which I never finished all of the sample exams in there. I just sat online and went through all the domains on your site through my one month online subscription, copied out some of your memory things, and voila, I passed the test. It was useful, and absolutely valuable in terms of getting used to understanding the different kinds of questions. I have recommended your site to the folks I went to school with who are taking the exam in January, so I hope they sign up. In addition I have a friend who failed it three times, very discouraged. I am telling her to sign up for your site as her primary study guide, for three months before taking the exam again in April. Just forgot if I told you I passed or not, so you can use my statement as a testimonial, if you care to. happy holidays! i received an early christmas gift when i found that i passed the fall ga. LPC exam a few weeks ago. with the help of your site, i scored above the avg. in all but one subject area. 97 was passing, i scored 127!!! i had a study guide and used old textbooks and notes. your site however had specific material that i feel gave me the edge to do as well as i did. i graduated in 93, and was worried the knowledge was in "vapor lock". thanks for helping me retrieve it. i have friends taking the spring test, and i'm telling them they'd be foolish not to use the site, IT WORKS!! it's in there, jim

Hello Dr. Hutchinson! I never felt like I studied enough, but I guess I did -- or I knew more than I thought I did. I've never been able to take MC questions very well. My history has been that I would miss 50/60% of them!! That's the reason I credit your tips/educational approach to reading the questions with my success! I will see what I can do about helping counseling students know about your website. I do think it's the best resource! Thank you again .... Lou

I just received my results yesterday and found out that I passed! I was very excited and nervous about opening the envelope because after taking the test I had no idea how I did. I am glad that I subscribed to your practice tests, they were very helpful and the only other study tool that I used besides a study guide.

I recently PASSED the National Counselor's Exam in 2001. I spent a month and a half studying because with my work schedule I ran out of time. Three items were essential to my studying and helped me to pass and I recommend them to you. (1) The Encyclopedia of Counseling by: Dr. Rosenthal (2) NCE Study Guide by: Dr. Hewlig and (3) www.counselingexam.com study website. Use these three and I believe you too will pass. - Marcia

Hi Dr. Hutchinson, I wanted to say thank you for your internet program as it was extremely helpful to prepare me to the NCE. I passed with flying colors, I received a score of 126 and the mininmum raw score was 97! I am thrilled to say the least :) I used the Encyclopedia of Counseling by Howard Rosenthal and studied from that only for seven months, five days a week. Then I subscribed to your program for the maximum time of two months. Your questions tested my acquired knowledge and showed me my weak points, there were a bunch. So again, I could not have done it without your tough questions, in all areas. I recommend your program to all NCE takers and make sure to tell them that they check your section on the question types and how to prepare for the exam day. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!! Lorene

Dear Dr. Hutchinson, Sorry it took me so long to get in touch with you. I thought I would wait for an auspicious occasion to do so and here it is - the NCE results for the April 2001 exams are out and I passed it!!! I got 131/160 and all I needed was 97 to pass. I am ecstatic! Thank you very much, I could not have done that without your test reviews and Dr. Helwig's study guide. I was fortunate that the hotel were I was residing the night before the exam had Web TV and yes! I was online on your site, it truly helped lessen my test anxiety quite a bit. I truly appreciated your emails, especially the one I received after the exam which truly described my numb state. I had no idea how I had done and was feeling quite dismal about the whole affair. I graduated with my Masters in Agency Counseling in 1998 and discovered your site while I was preparing a workshop on Internet Resources for Counselors back in late 1999. I started my preparation for the NCE in December 2000 with Dr. Helwig's study guide. I also used Samuel Gladding's text (Counseling-A Comprehensive Profession, 2nd edition) as a reference and a month before the exam signed up with your NCE Licensure Exam Review. Let me tell you the test sampler really freaked me out:) The questions were tough. Your test review helped me to (a) focus on my weaker subject areas, (b) pay attention to what the question was really asking, (c) read all the choices carefully and (d) most of all prepared me to do the 200 questions in one sitting. I cannot tell you how much both Dr. Helwig's study guide and your online review has helped me. But I think my results give you a fair idea. Dear Dr. Linton, I used your online study guide to take the NCE test in April. I was sick from Jan. 20 - March 22nd. I only had a month to prepare for the test, although I graduated in December 2000. I just recieved my results and I am grateful to announce that I passed! It was the toughest test that I have ever taken and the questions were torturous! It took me all of 3 hours and 55 minutes to finish. I also used Dr. Helwig's study guide as well. In fact, the last two weeks I could not use your internet site because our computer went down, but I give credit where credit is due. Thank you, please pass it along, Jon

I have been so stressed at finishing last semester of grad school and having the NCE exam on the same week. Papers due, final exams, etc. left me with little time to study for the NCE. Plus I am in so much debt....Anyway, I want you to know that I didn't even know about your site until a week before the exam and I was really beginning to panic. I was using the NCE Preparation Manual and was becoming overwhelmed with the scope of the material being presented. I found your site and subscribed in an attempt to alleviate anxiety. I wish to thank you for doing what you are doing. It was convenient and comforting to be able to get feedback from the quizzes, plus continual reinforcement of material by presenting questions over again. The large number of e-mails filled with relevant information also was beneficial. It was a tremendous help and I feel that I did well on the exam partially due to the confidence I felt after using your product. I also appreciate the cushion which I mistook (assumed) to be other than the act of generoisity in which it was offered. I feel that you do genuinely care about your customers and that is a rarity in today's dehumanizing society.

Dear Linton, I just heard that I passed the NCE exam, and I thank you for helping me to do so! I studied for the test on your site for several months, and often got quite discouraged because the questions seemed so hard! There was so much data that we had never covered in grad school that I wondered if I would ever be able to learn it before the exam. But when I finally took the test, it seemed very easy! I believe that was due to the challenge of your questions; you covered all the areas very well; I was very well prepared thanks to you. I thank God for your help in this, and I am telling my friends and teachers from grad school to study via your site. I pray this finds you well and happy and that you prove to be a blessing to many others in the future!
